Hi! My name is Lun Ou, and I will be a Junior this fall majoring in ACE international trade, policy and development. I am from Beijing, China.
As soon as the semester was over, I went with IBIP group to Brazil. We visited Sao Paul, Rio and some other places. Along our way, we visited many agriculture related companies such as Caterpillar, Case, Monsanto and so on. Our group of four had a research topic focusing on environmental impact of increasing poultry production. We had couple good interviews and learned a lot about this issue. There were also two other groups from U of I visiting Brazil by the time. We met these group and also alumni. By the way, the food is great there!
After I came back, I worked at Dr. Nakamura’s biochemistry nutrition lab for a month. Then I was heading to India for a 6 weeks internship. I live in India Institute of Technology (IIT) with another girl going to University of Michigan. I am working at The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI) in New Delhi. I work at Center of Mycorrhiza Research. Mycorrhiza is kind of fungi helping plants grow and can potentially be used in environmental friendly bio-fertilizer to achieve sustainable agriculture. Besides working, my roommate and I visited many fun places, such as India Gate, National Museum, and Modern Art Museum. The place we hang out a lot is called Hauz Khaz village, which has lot of nice restaurant with yummy local food and most importantly, HIGH SPEED WIFI!
